A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Bullock moved to the metro Atlanta area during high school and graduated in the top 10% of his class at Dunwoody High. He then studied Microbiology at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, earning a B.S. degree with High Honors. While at Georgia Tech, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, the VA Medical Center and attended the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program at Yale University School of Medicine.
After conducting research as an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) fellow for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, he went on to earn his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Following his internal medicine residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, Florida, he served as a private attending physician at UF Shands Jacksonville. Dr. Bullock returned to the University of Florida to complete his gastroenterology fellowship, serving as Chief Fellow.
During his fellowship, he received training in hepatology at the nearby Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Bullock also spent time training in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) under world-renowned IBD specialists Dr. Stephen Hanauer and Dr. David Rubin at the University of Chicago. As a fellow, he was the co-investigator on a privately sponsored research grant funded by UCB (Union Chimique Belge) biopharmaceutical company studying stool biomarkers of inflammation in IBD.
Dr. Bullock has been published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Hereditary Cancer in Clinical Practice, and the Southern Medical Journal. He has presented at both national and international conferences, receiving the 2012 Presidential Poster Award and Astra Zeneca Clinical Vignette Award at the 2012 annual American College of Gastroenterology conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is a member of the Crohn's Colitis Foundation of America, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Bullock has special interests in IBD, GERD, Celiac Disease, IBS and Colon Cancer Screening.
Dr. Bullock is highly proficient in screening colonoscopy with an average adenoma detection rate (ADR) of 49%. ADR is the gold standard of quality endoscopy, with national target of 20% or greater.
